leviathan camp

bus came early
grabbed my rucksack
mom pats head
shoves out door
breathes relief sighs

drove to the ocean
singing screaming squirming
one last listless gasp
of pre-adolescence
on the road to the abyss

tentacles of the kraken
from the horizon rise
we stood in awe
sea of small mouths beckon
wall of cephalopodic horror

hey mom
it's alright
i'm doing OK
here
on the ocean floor
in the arms of
leviathan
